Traffic stop leads to four charged with drug offences

TAY TOWNSHIP – On Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 7:31 p.m. members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle on Highway 400 in Tay Township for speeding.

As a result of the investigation, the four occupants in the vehicle were arrested for various criminal and drug related offences.

During the follow up investigation, officers located a large quantity of drugs and found one of the occupants to be wanted by another police service.

The driver of the vehicle Seamus Fyfe (age 44) of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

  • Trafficking in a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine (crystal meth) contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

Female occupant Alisha Theriault (age 30) of Batchewana, ON has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

  • Possession of a schedule II substance contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

Female occupant Shayna Nadjiwon (age 23) of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with probation order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drug contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The three accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice on August 25, 2016 in Midland, ON.

Male occupant Justin Joseph Lewis (age 34) of Sault Ste. Marie was also arrested and has been charged with:

  • Fail to comply with recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – other drugs contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie, ON.
