Three Toronto-area men claim $50 million Lotto Max jackpot

TORONTO - (March 16) - Congratulations to Zdzislaw Modlinski of Toronto, Eugeniusz Bork of Scarborough and Wlodzimierz Konieczny of Brampton, Ontario who have claimed the $50 million Lotto Max jackpot won on the March 11, 2011 draw.

They claimed the jackpot prize this morning at OLG's Prize Centre in Toronto.

The three close friends have been working together for the past 17 years at a bakery near Ossington and Queen.

While they played the lottery individually, they started buying lottery tickets together since September 2010.

Zdzislaw is a supervisor at the bakery; Eugeniusz and Wlodzimierz work as delivery drivers for the bakery.

Eugeniusz said that he had a premonition of the big win.

"Two days before the draw, I had a dream that I was pushing a wheelbarrow full of money with two other guys. The next day, I had a dream that I was opening up a car wash and a gas station and a couple of other small businesses. When I woke up, I thought 'the money is coming, I am sure.'"

On Monday afternoon, prompted by news reports about the unclaimed jackpot prize, he checked his ticket.

"I couldn't believe it," said Eugeniusz. "I was crying, I was so happy."

He immediately called his friends to tell them about their lottery prize.

"They didn't believe me either. But then, they checked the photocopies of our tickets and they saw that we won. We were all so happy."

The men are still not sure what they plan to do with their new found wealth.

The winning Lotto Max ticket was purchased at the Petro-Canada located at 90 The Queensway in Toronto.

Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario Lotto Max players have won more than $600 million in prizes including eight jackpots and more than 100 Maxmillions prizes.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities.

Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $32 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario.

Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport, recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
