Building trades urge support for Martin

Tony Martin's campaign gained additional momentum today as Patrick Dillon, Business Agent of the Ontario Building Trades is urging pipefitters, carpenters, electricians and other local tradespeople to support Martin.

"I work with MPPs from all political stripes to obtain the best deal possible for building trade workers," said Dillon.

"Tony has been outstanding in his support of the issues that matter most to working people."

Martin has provided strong leadership in preserving local jobs for local workers and contractors and has been unflagging in his support for a local dispute involving the Carpenters and Labourers union.

"The City of Sault Ste. Marie passed a resolution to use the wrong-spirited Tory Labour legislation to undermine the jobs and wages of local tradespeople," says Dillon.

"Keeping local jobs for local people improves family life as well as contributing to the local economy."

At a breakfast meeting on Thursday, Dillon urged members of the various building trades to support Martin, and then went door knocking in a number of different areas of the City to spread the same message.

"We need a lot more MPPs like Tony who will hold the government to account."
