Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario – This September in communities across Ontario, the kidney community will gather to join together for the Kidney Walk, a non-competitive walk raising awareness of kidney health and organ donation.

The Kidney Walk brings supports those affected by kidney disease and their families. On average 1 in 10 Canadians has kidney disease and millions more are at risk. Kidney disease is treated with dialysis or a kidney transplant; there is no cure.

Over 11,500 Ontarians depend on life-sustaining dialysis treatments several times a week and many of those waiting for a transplant are in need of a kidney.

We need your help.

It’s time for you to take a giant step in the fight against kidney disease.

Your participation in the Kidney Walks provides hope for those living with kidney disease when they need it most. A diagnosis of kidney disease is life changing and impacts the entire family. For some, it means losing hours of the week to dialysis, which affects opportunities to work, travel or spend time together.

The Walks are The Kidney Foundation’s largest community fundraiser.

While the events only last a few hours, the relationships built for those who attend have a lasting impact. The Foundation aims to support those affected by kidney disease through education, patient support programs like Kidney Connect peer support, advocacy efforts, and by investing in research to improve the future of kidney care in Canada.

Join the kidney community at the Kidney Walk. For more information, to register, or to donate, please visit our website. Help us reach our goal of $900,000 in Ontario.
