Three wannabe crooks bungle job at the Algonquin

************************* On Saturday April 8 at approximately 11:15 p.m. the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to the Algonquin Hotel in regards to an attempted robbery.

Just after 11 p.m. three males attended at the front lobby of the hotel.

One of the males was brandishing a large serrated knife and approached the office door.

He demanded money from the clerk and cautioned her not to call the police.

The clerk called police before the suspects could enter the office.

The suspects subsequently fled from the hotel.

Description of suspects is as follows:

1. Male, white, 18-25 years of age, approximately 5'7", slim build, wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, dark jeans and a white bandana over his face.

2. Suspect was wearing a black toque on his head, similar physical description.

3. Similar physical description also wearing a mask over his face.

Anyone with information on this crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS or the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300.
