************************* Possession of controlled substance

Yesterday afternoon members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested an 18-year-old male for possession of marijuana.

It is alleged that the accused male had three Baggies containing marijuana in his locker at a local high school.

[Charge withdrawn] is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance.

[Charge withdrawn] is to appear in court on April 4 at 9 a.m.

************************ Warrants

Early yesterday morning, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 38-year-old male for several warrants.

It is alleged that the accused, James Syrette, was wanted on warrants for failing to appear for court, breach of probation, possession of property obtained by crime and theft under $5,000.

James Syrette, age 38, of 864 Queen Street East Unit 6 is charged with two counts of failing to appear for court, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000 and three counts of breach of probation.

Mr. Syrette attended in bail court on March 1.

************************ Domestic violence

Yesterday evening, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 35-year-old male for assault.

It is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife on February 25 by grabbing her.

It is further alleged that the accused assaulted his wife yesterday by pushing her to the ground and kicking her.

The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention.

The accused is charged with two counts of assault.

************************ Mischief

Yesterday evening, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 45-year-old male wanted on a warrant for mischief.

It is alleged that on September 25, 2010 the accused and a co-accused attended at a residence on Wallace Terrace and caused over $5,000 damage to a vehicle.

It is further alleged that the accused then damaged a window at the home.

Ronald Masse, age 45, of 710 Second Line West Apartment 9 is charged with one count of mischief over $5,000 and one count of mischief under $5,000. Mr. Masse is to appear in court on April 4 at 9 a.m.

************************ Break and enter

An attempted break and enter was reported at the Northern Breweries building on Bay Street yesterday afternoon.

Two males were seen on the roof of the building attempting to break in.

One suspect is described as wearing a black jacket with a dark green hoodie.

The second male was seen wearing a beige-coloured coat.

The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

************************ Theft

Electronics, jewellery and a generator were reported stolen from a residence in the 700 block of Metzger Street.
