It was hardly seven weeks ago that medical specialists attending the American Urological Association's meeting in Atlanta learned of new research indicating that drinking lemonade slows the development of kidney stones.
We're not sure that Udo or Candy or Cindy or Dan at the Sault's Downtown Association knew about that when they decided on a new downtown promotion called Lemonade Days.
But Cindy Crawford, their communications guru, sent us this news release this afternoon:
*********************** Get the 'squeeze' on mid-season sales and re-acquaint yourself with Downtown at dusk during Lemonade Days.
Lemonade Days takes place on Friday night (extended hours) and Saturday.
Queen Street will be closed to traffic, from East to Dennis Streets, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. for pedestrian convenience.
"This is a great opportunity for people to not only pick up some bargains but also a chance to stroll along Queen and see what's new, grab a bite to eat or simply window shop," says Udo Rauk, chief administration officer, Downtown Association.
Many stores will be open late.
Lemonade Days also ties in with Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie's Rotaryfest celebration.
The annual RotaryFest parade gets underway on Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. and travels the route between between Simpson and Gore Streets.
