They embraced first real snow (5 photos)

"Kids and fresh new fallen snow are a great recipe for making a snowman," loyal reader Lena Pino noted when she sent us several photos from Rush Avenue.

"It is such an accomplishment to finish and look at your creation and the fresh air and exercise don't hurt either. The best reward is a nice cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows and dream of beautiful things to come."

Meanwhile, faithful reader Ann Gordanier and her dog enjoyed the newly arrived white stuff on a walk (see gallery photo) in the area of the Sault College woodlot.

Big changes are ahead for the area which has long served as as an outdoor lab for Sault College forestry programs while also providing urban green space enjoyed by students and neighbouring residents alike.

The imminent extension of Pine Street to the Second Line and Extendicare's construction a 256-bed long-term care facility on a portion of the woodlot will impact the area significantly.
