Without fanfare, Gary Manzo was quietly hanged this week at City Hall.

Local artist Gary Manzo, son of Ward 6 Councillor Frank Manzo, has donated a rather large work to the Civic Centre entitled Dare Something Worthy.

In a note to City officials, the younger Manzo stated that the newly installed piece was "given to the citizens of our City, hoping to inspire others to be creative."

Gary Manzo studied at both the Ontario College of Art and the Toronto New School of Art between 1971 and 1975, and obtained a bachelor's degree in social sciences and visual arts from Algoma University in 1979.

Although his career path led him to work as a financial planner for 25 years, he tells SooToday.com that he always found time to paint and is affiliated with the Saatchi Gallery in London, England.
