SooToday.com has received the following e-mail and photo from loyal reader Erin Gorman, who notes that big fireworks shows have their downside:

************************* I remember reading complaints about litter left over from people at the fireworks on July 1.

Well, the Americans are just as bad.

When their fireworks were going off last night, debris came right down on us at the Roberta Bondar pavilion tent.

Many people thought it was raining hard at first.

Then we noticed that it was chunks from the fireworks.

People ended up getting pegged on the head and in the face.

My Mom got hit in the shoulder from a piece and our faces got so covered with ash that I had to have a shower when I got home.

Here is a photo of some of the debris my son collected as a take-home present as yesterday was his fifth birthday.
