The first baby of 2018 to be born in Sault Ste. Marie arrived this afternoon.

Lincoln Orto was born at Sault Area Hospital at 3:17 p.m. on New Year’s day, weighing in at 7 lbs, 10 ounces.

He’s the first son born to Les and Megan Orto of Bruce Mines. Lincoln has two siblings, Charlotte, age 7, and Chloe, age 14.

Lincoln’s uncle, Lawrence Orto, told SooToday that the proud parents are ‘smiling and happy to have their third child’ after Megan went through 20 hours of labour.

"Megan’s just sort of shaking her head right now,” Orto said with a laugh. “She’s willing to forget that part right now.”

“The due date was Dec. 30, so we were just hoping she held it in, just because Lincoln’s sister was born in December, so she didn’t want him sharing the same month.”
