************************* Highway 17 disappears - again

Heyden, Ont. - Sault Ste. Marie OPP were called to the Mile Hill on Highway 17 in Heyden yesterday afternoon after high winds made the highway disappear.

Yesterday afternoon at about 4 p.m. OPP received several calls about poor weather conditions in Heyden and Goulais River.

Regular travellers on the Mile Hill and Highway 17 through Goulais River reported white-outs and zero visibility for extended periods of time.

At the same time four transports lost traction and were stuck as they attempted to climb the Mile Hill that separates Heyden and Goulais River.

Highway maintenance crews arrived with plows and sand trucks and were able to free the trucks from the hill.
