The Bay Burger: 2001-2010

The Joey Calzone's Bay Burger is dead.

The popular Station Mall eatery, ousted from its original location on the Bay Street side by a still-under-construction SportChek store, quietly re-opened late yesterday on the mall's opposite side.

The Bay Burger, named after Bay Street, has been suitably re-christened as the Board Walk Burger

With a less-conspicuous entrance tucked next to Charms, the new location is in part of the former Ubetcha Tap & Grill location next to the river.

There's a new name - Joey's Twisted Italian Grill & Pub - and many new twists to the menu.

Co-owner Joe Iachetta is shown with Mike Iachetta and bar manager Tracey Pistor, showing off one such innovation, an exquisite Italian mutation of the classic English pub comfort food, bangers and mash.

Also popular with yesterday's crowd were the new con queso poutine, crispy cheese borsettis and a large selection of international and domestic beers, twenty-six of which are offered on tap, some at sub-zero temperatures.

The Joey's staff have burned their despised old red uniforms and are now smartly turned out in black. In place of the shelled peanut barrels at the old location, the new Joey's offers local favourite Fierynuts to bar patrons.

There are many other changes at Joey's Twisted Italian Grill & Pub, including deep-fried lasagna and new versions of its baked-on-premises bread.

Management is also planning live music in the near future.

Joey's will be open again today (Sunday) at noon.
