Hopeful buyers lined up outside the Esquire Club on Second Line hours before tickets went on sale today for the ever-growing Catch the Ace progressive jackpot draw. Up for grabs was a cool $255,000.

At 9:30 p.m. sharp, ticket number 149882 was drawn and a very shaken winner chose an envelope from the the eight that remained.

Her card?

The three of spades. So close!

Don’t feel too bad for her, however. She still walked away with just a little over $30,000 as the nightly prize winner.

Just to put that into perspective, last year’s Esquire Club Catch the Ace final jackpot winner, Anouka Corbeil, took home $29,172.50 and was tickled to do so.

So the jackpot will continue to grow for next week’s Thursday night draw with just seven cards left to choose from.

Proceeds from Catch the Ace will be split evenly among Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Sault Ste. Marie and the Group Health Centre Trust Fund.
