SooToday.com received the following letter today from Donna Crosson, mother of Sgt. John Wayne Faught who fell in the line of duty on January 16, 2010 while serving in Afghanistan.

**************************** I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all of the citizens of Sault Ste Marie, the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, the 49th Field Regiment Royal Canadian Artillery, the Sault Ste Marie Fire Services, the Sault Ste Marie Police Services, the Ontario Provincial Police, the RCMP, and the Military Family Support Group for their overwhelming show of Support in honouring the memory of my son Sgt. John Wayne Faught, 1st Battalion PPCLI.

To the many friends, family, neighbours, who offered support by being there for us, to those who brought food both at our home and at the Legion, those who sent flowers, cards and donations.

To those who called us with messages of support, there are no words that can properly show our appreciation.

To my wonderful family at the Northern Credit Union who, as usual, stepped up to the plate for me,to Brice Cooke and his staff at Arthurs Funeral Home, to the businesses that honoured my son, to the school children and their teachers who lined the streets in respect, to the many vehicle drivers who, not only, stopped but stood outside their vehicles in respect.

To Rev. Phil Miller who delivered a wonderful eulogy, we say thank you.

To the wonderful citizens who lined the streets at night with flags and candles when my son was repatriated with this city, we say thank you.

To the media, we appreciated your respectful coverage.

If I have forgotten anyone, please accept my sincere apologies.

My family and I are extremely grateful for all the kind support and thoughts which we received during our time of need.

We know that John would have been proud that his home town of Sault Ste. Marie was there to help his family and that its citizens hounoured his supreme sacrifice with dignity and respect.

Donna Crosson, Memorial Cross Mother, and the family of Sgt. John Wayne Faught
