Sault Ste. Marie Ford Dealers raise more than $67,000 for local community - Local teams, community organizations and schools among the beneficiaries

Two local dealerships led the province with 16 Drive 4 UR School and Community events in 2012 raising a total of more than $67,680

SAULT STE. MARIE - Highland Ford and Maitland Ford Lincoln with the Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited continued its successful Drive 4 UR School and Drive 4 UR Community programs in 2012 in the Sault Ste. Marie community to raise funds for worthy schools and community organizations.

Each event provided a unique opportunity for a local community group or school to fundraise for a particular project or event.

Some of the highlights from 2012 include:

  • Highland Ford and Maitland Ford Lincoln raised a combined $24,800 for Sault Ste. Marie area schools with Drive 4 UR School events, supporting school teams and clubs, classroom technology and new playground equipment.
  • The dealerships supported local hockey, football, and swim teams with Drive 4 UR Community events.
  • The dealerships supported a number of local community groups and charitable organizations with Drive 4 UR Community events.

“We are proud of the impact this program has had in bringing together community members to support their students and neighbours in Sault Ste. Marie,” said Mike Herniak, general manager, Eastern Canada, Ford of Canada. “The commitment of the Highland Ford and Maitland Ford Lincoln dealers to give back to their community is commendable and will continue in 2013.”

Through this initiative, community members had the opportunity to raise up to $6,000 for a particular local school or community organization that participated by test driving a Ford or Lincoln vehicle during special one-day events throughout the year.

Ford of Canada and Ontario dealerships, who pledged $20 for every person from a unique household who test drove a Ford or Lincoln vehicle at Drive 4 UR School and Community events, donated more than $390,000 for local schools and community organizations this year.

The Drive 4 UR School and Drive 4 UR Community programs, which began in April 2010, have raised more than $3 million benefiting more than 900 academic and local organizations across Canada.

Ford of Canada’s Drive UR School and Community programs, in conjunction with local dealerships, will continue to partner with eligible schools and community organizations to raise money in 2013.
