************************* Tendercare nursing endowment

Lake Superior State University students Arriel L. Kaczanowski, left of centre, and Marie Dwarshuis, right of centre, accept the Tendercare endowment from former Tendercare president Lou Lukenda, his wife Mae (centre), and LSSU president Tony McLain.

Presentation was made during the annual War Memorial Hospital banquet held in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.

This endowment was established in 1994 with a bequest from a client of an Indiana-affiliated facility to Tendercare (Michigan) Inc., Michigan’s largest long-term care provider.

The gift was donated to LSSU to go to students who major in a health care field.

Recipients must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and have completed 26 or more LSSU credits.

The Lukendas also received recognition for their long-time support of nursing at LSSU.

Dwarshuis is a senior from Wyoming, Michigan.

Kaczanowski is a junior from Dorr, Michigan.

The evening's festive theme was a Hawaiian luau.
