SooToday.com received the following email today from loyal reader BJ Lang:

************************** Hello SooToday.com,

I wanted to know if you could post a thank you to all of the kind and generous people that donated hockey equipment to the New Zealand Ice Hockey Federation.

They have just begun their season three weeks ago and have sent me a picture and a little letter from the federation and a letter from one of the Kiwi (Tom Thumb) aged players.

I received over 600 pounds of donated hockey equipment and sweaters from Sault Ste. Marie and was overwhelmed with the daunting task of sending across the world.

Well it took five months, via UPS from Toronto to Oregon, then on to a barge to Christchurch, New Zealand.

I'm happy to say the huge package arrived and it has been put to good use!

I have just returned from Newfoundland from the Safety Emergency Response Facility in St. John's, and am looking forward to pursuing a career in firefighting.

Again, I hope that you can put together a little thank you for the community.

I cannot express enough the many letters of thanks I have received from the New Zealand parents, coaches and players.

Thank you ,

BJ Lang

p.s. Below is a copy of the original thank you from New Zealand parent:

************************** Attached is a letter and photo.

Our apologies for not getting this to you and your club sooner.

The gear is well and truly used - lots of the little guys peewees and kiwis.

Parents are wrapped that the initial gear is available without any outlay required by them.

Please pass on our sincere thanks to all concerned.

Jill Wilson Queenstown New Zealand Club President
