************************* Hi David:

I'm not sure whether you would consider this a "good Samaritan" story or not, but thought I would share it with you.

My mother is a senior citizen who sometimes uses a walker when she is out shopping.

Approximately three weeks ago, she headed over to the Zellers Plaza on Northern Avenue with her 2007 income tax form in the basket of her walker.

Before mailing it, she decided she would shop first and then head to the postal outlet to mail her form, when suddenly she realized that it was nowhere to be found.

It could have blown out of the walker without her realizing it.

She frantically went back into Zellers and asked the staff there if someone had found the tax form and maybe dropped it off at the front desk.

No one had.

However, the staff helped her go through the isles she was in thinking maybe it had dropped on the floor.

But nothing turned up.

She went home thinking someone would take her form, possibly change the address and receive her cheque (remember . . . she's a senior citizen).

She was frantic and didn't know what she should do.

Because I am the oldest of four siblings, she turned to me.

I assured her that she did have a copy of her form, and we would simply photocopy what she had and attach a letter to Canada Revenue.

She still didn't think she had all her receipts and she made sure she called, for example, her landlord, church, etc. to ask for another receipt.

So . . . we just got everything figured out and ready to mail.

I suggested to her, that maybe we should request a "direct" deposit of her return, rather than have it mailed to her at home.

She thought this was a better idea.

Early this afternoon, she called me at work, in tears, to tell me she received a cheque for her refund from Canada Revenue.

David, I truly believe that someone probably found the envelope and mailed it for her.

If that is the case, then God bless this good Samaritan.

My mother is very strong in her faith, and always tries to see the "good" in people.

I believe, she has just seen it first-hand.

She is truly thankful, to that someone, who may have found this form and out of the goodness of their heart, mailed the tax return for her.

We really do live in a wonderful city and we really do have wonderful people who live here!

If you choose to use this story, David, we will forever be grateful.

Thank you sooooo much for what you do with SooToday.com!!!
