The World Health Organization (WHO) today raised its swine flu pandemic alert level to four after the death toll in Mexico reached 149 and suspected cases were found in Canada, Europe and the United States.

The World Health Organization (WHO) today raised its swine flu pandemic alert level to four after the death toll in Mexico reached 149 and suspected cases were found in Canada, Europe and the United States.

A level four alert means the disease is easily transferred from person to person and there is an increased risk of a pandemic.

The Mexican government has closed all schools nation-wide until May 6.
