Suspicious deaths north of Sudbury ruled as homicides

************************* SUDBURY, ON, May 20 - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating the discovery of two deceased persons in a remote cabin on Thor Lake, Frechette Township, north of Sudbury.

The bodies of the adult male and female were found in the cabin on May 16, 2008. Victims identified as:

- Carolyn Carroll, 44, of Wahnapitae, Ontario - Mark Anthony Comeau, 46, of Coniston, Ontario, originally from New Brunswick Post-mortem examinations were completed today by Dr. Martin Queen at the North East Regional Forensic Pathology Unit in Sudbury.

Results concluded that both Carolyn Carroll and Mark Anthony Comeau died as a result of foul play.

Police are treating this investigation as a double homicide and are not releasing the cause of death at this time. Investigators are asking any member of the public who was traveling on the access road on the pole line from Moose Mountain to Thor Lake north of Capreol on the evening of Thursday the 15th of May and the earlier morning hours of Friday the 16th of May contact the Sudbury OPP Crime Unit at 705-564-6900.

A strictly anonymous report can also be made through the Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). The OPP has deployed significant resources to this remote area to conduct the investigation that is being led by the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) with investigators from the Sudbury Crime Unit and the OPP's North East Region.

The North East Region Emergency Response Team has also been conducting an extensive ground search of the area and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are also assisting in this continuing investigation.
