A man wanted in the killings of four police officers on Sunday has been shot dead this morning by police in South Seattle.
Maurice Clemmons, 37, was killed around 2 a.m. after he challeged police when they approached him.
The four police officers, all of them parents, died in an ambush-style attack Sunday in Lakewood, about 40 miles south of Seattle.
Media reports indicate that Clemmons had an extensive history of involvement with the law, and nine years ago, then-Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee commuted his 95-year prison sentence.
"Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy," Huckabee said on Sunday, "it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state."
