Suspect in custody following gun incident on Moluch St

*************************** Male arrested in city’s central area in relation to a domestic incident

Shortly after 8:30 a.m. patrol officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended in the downtown area after receiving a call that a female had been assaulted by her common law boyfriend.

It is alleged that the male assaulted the female by pushing her onto a bed and holding her and also pushing her into the snow.

When the male left the residence it is alleged he left with a rifle and attended at a home in the city’s hilltop area.

The male is known to the homeowners.

Officers from investigation services, the emergency services unit and trained negotiators assisted patrol officers on Moluch Street.

The residence the male attended at was secured by officers and attempts to call the male out were successful.

At approximately 1:25 p.m. a 37-year-old male was taken into custody without incident.

He has been charged with two counts of assault and will appear in WASH court on the 18th of December 2010.
