BARBER, Susan Elizabeth: 1960-2016

SooToday received the following notice from Arthur Funeral Home regarding the death of beloved local teacher and director Sue Barber.

With incredible sadness we share news of the passing of a loving wife to Aubrey Falls, sister to Leslie Barber (Susan Hawke), sister-in-law to Ken Falls (Theresa), Velma Hare (Calvin), Karen Easton (Rob) and Les Becker, special aunt to Graham and Mathew Barber, Lise Brulé, Christopher Hare, Lindsay Mullins, Rick Falls and Kyla Becker, great aunt of 4.

Daughter of the late Jack and Peggy Barber and daughter-in-law to the late Matt and Maude Falls.

A niece to Les and Bea Crawford and remembered by her Barber and Crawford cousins. Susie was a mentor and “mom” to hundreds whom she taught, directed and coached, both in her career as a drama teacher at White Pines and in her after hours work in theatre, which was her personal calling. 

Susie was an animal lover and enjoyed working on her farm, where many retired horses happily spent their last days. She will be missed by her beloved dogs Bert and Ernie and the cats Jabba and Becky.

Anyone was welcome to visit and strays of all kinds could always find a home. She found room in her heart for us all and we will miss her grace, humour and insight for years to come. 

In respecting Susie’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date.
