OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************* Speeding results in additional charges

BLIND RIVER, ON - On Sunday May 9, 2010, at 11:35 a.m., an officer from the East Algoma OPP detachment stopped an eastbound vehicle on Causley Street in Blind River for speeding.

The vehicle was stopped but when doing so it blocked an intersection.

When requesting the driver’s documents, he became agitated and verbally abusive to the officer.

The officer also requested the driver move the vehicle forward out of the intersection.

After numerous requests the driver surrendered his documents but then began to reverse the vehicle towards the officer.

Police ordered the driver to stop his vehicle but he continued to yell at police.

The driver finally stopped after other occupants convinced him to cease his behaviour.

Charge with speeding, section 128 and fail to stop for police section 216 of the Highway Traffic Act is 41-year-old Dale D. Cada of Sheshegwaning.

Cada is scheduled to appear in Blind River provincial offences court on June 8, 2010.
