Sudbury man, 20, wanted for violent robbery caught on video

A third suspect has been identified in a violent altercation that took place over the weekend in a downtown Sudbury underpass tunnel.

In a media release, police said a call came in at 8:42 p.m. describing a group of individuals who were heard yelling and a significant amount of blood was observed on the ground. The individuals fled the scene prior to police arrival. 

The victim was located by police and received medical attention by paramedics. HIs injuries were deemed not life-threatening. 

Police reviewed Lions Eye in the Sky (closed circuit television monitoring program) footage, which had captured the incident.

“The footage revealed that a male victim had been laying on the ground of the underpass tunnel, when three men approached him and began to physically assault him,” according to the release. “Through the course of the assault, the suspects were observed rummaging through the victim’s pockets and possessions.”

Police allege they identified all three suspects via the footage, and at 9:28 p.m. Oct. 1, arrested two of them, including a 25-year-old Mississauga man and a 20-year-old Greater Sudbury man.

The Mississauga man was charged with robbery with violence, and the Sudbury man was charged with robbery with violence and failure to comply with release order.

Both men were taken to police headquarters and held in custody overnight. They were scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 2. 

Police said the third suspect was identified, but remains at large. GSPS said they have identified him as 20-year-old Brandon Leclair-Davey of Greater Sudbury. Police believe he is actively evading capture. 

Leclair-Davey is described as approximately 5-6 tall, 120 lbs, with a thin build, brown hair and hazel eyes. 

He has been charged with the following offences: robbery with violence, failure to comply with release order, and failure to comply with probation order.

The attack is believed to be a targeted incident.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
