******************* Found human remains investigation - now called a homicide

BURWASH TWP., ON, April 18 - On Tuesday, December 27, 2005, officers from the Sudbury OPP Detachment attended at a bush area off of Trout Lake Road in Burwash Township after hunters discovered human remains in the area. On Thursday, December 29, 2005, the remains were positively identified as Davinder (Daphne) Kochar, a Sudbury woman reported missing on November 06, 2005 to the Greater Sudbury Police Service. A joint police service investigation continues with officers from the Greater Sudbury Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police. On Sunday, April 16, 2006, a purse and some personal property were located in the Lively area.

These items have been identified as belonging to Davinder Kochar. Police in consultation with the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario have classified this investigation as a homicide.

Forensic testing is continuing through the office of the Chief Coroner. ***********************
