Stupak undergoes nasal surgery

************************* Stupak undergoes out-patient procedure

WASHINGTON - On Wednesday, April 11th, Congressman Bart Stupak (D-Menominee) underwent surgery in his nasal cavity to have removed several non-cancerous (benign) polyps.

The following statement may be attributed to Alex Haurek, Stupak's press secretary:

"Congressman Stupak underwent out-patient surgery to have several benign growths removed from his nasal cavity."

"The routine surgery went as expected and doctors predict a complete recovery."

"While the out-patient procedure was performed on Wednesday, the congressman was back at work in his Washington office on Thursday."

"Due to the nature of the procedure, doctors recommend that the congressman avoid air travel for at least ten days after the procedure."

The Congressman therefore elected to have the procedure done in Washington, so he would not miss votes when the House is back in session next week.

The Congressman will need to remain in Washington for at least ten days, before he can next return home to Michigan.

Air travel in Michigan will also have to be limited for at least 30 days.
