Stuff to do on Canada Day

Opening ceremonies for Canada Day begin at 2 p.m. at the Roberta Bondar Pavilion with Lou-Ann Young as emcee and special guest The Honourable David Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

There will be cupcakes and entertainment!

And, of course, fireworks at dusk!

The Honourable Mr. Onley will also be at the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today for a public recognition ceremony honouring the pilots visiting Sault Ste. Marie as part of the Century of Flight Relay across Canada. You are welcome to attend and admission to the museum will be free!

There's a Family Fun Day until 3 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion with marching bands, a barbecue lunch, crafts and an inflatable village.

There are also free Canada Day activities at the Art Gallery of Algoma, as follows:

12 p.m. - Gallery and coffee bar open

1 p.m. - Art making for children outside

3 p.m. - Bicycle rally

5 p.m. - Music from the rooftop

7 p.m. - Ultimate Frisbee in Clergue Park

9 p.m. - Canadian films outside

10 p.m. DJs continue until 11 p.m.
