Student suspended after assault reported on teacher

************************* Student charged with assault

ELLIOT LAKE, ON – On February 17 at approximately 11 a.m., police received a call to attend a local high school in Elliot Lake regarding a possible assault.

On scene, police learned that the subject was a student at the school and had been advised of a suspension.

The subject was told several times to leave the school but did not comply.

While the teacher was attempting to escort the student out of the school, the student allegedly assaulted the teacher.

Charged with assault is Amber Elizabeth Simpson (18) of Elliot Lake.

Simpson is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on April 6.

************************* Police looking for possible witnesses

ELLIOT LAKE, ON – Police are currently seeking the assistance of the public regarding a possible assault on Veterans Way in Elliot Lake.

The victim reports that on February 17 at approximately 2 p.m. he was standing at a bus stop on Veterans Way when he was approached by a male and assaulted.

Police are asking anyone that may have witnessed the assault to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
