December 19 picket locations for Algoma teachers, ETFO vice president
TORONTO (December 18, 2012) - Algoma public elementary teachers and occasional teachers will stage a one-day strike this Wednesday, December 19 to continue sending the government a message that Bill 115 is severely impeding local collective bargaining.
Picketing will occur in Sault Ste. Marie, Wawa, Chapleau, Homepayne, and Blind River.
Susan Swackhammer, vice-president of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario, will join picketers in Sault Ste. Marie for the day, as will Algoma Teacher Local president Kelly Holley and Occasional Teacher Local president Peter Mead.
Teachers will also conduct a food drive for a local charity.

• Sault Ste. Marie: David Orazietti MPP constituency office, 432 Great Northern Rd., 8:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m.
• Wawa: Sir James Dunn P.S., 36 McKinley Ave., 8:30 -11:30 a.m.
• Chapleau: Chapleau P.S., 20 Teak St., 8:30 -11:30 a.m.
• Hornepayne: Hornepayne P.S., 162 Fourth Ave., 8:30 -11:30 a.m.
• Blind River: Blind River P.S., 19 Hanes Ave., 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
During a vote in September, both locals received overwhelming mandates for strike action from their members.
