************************* Routine traffic stop nets court time for local male!

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - (March 17) - On March 15, 2008 at approximately 3:17 p.m. while on general patrol, an OPP officer conducted a traffic stop at the corner of Hillside Drive North and Beech Road in Elliot Lake.

Resulting from the traffic stop, the officer received information that the driver may be a suspended driver.

Charged with driving when disqualified is Helmut Zimmer (age 70) of Elliot Lake.

Zimmer is scheduled to appear in court on April 8, 2008.

************************* Trail permit required

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - (March 17) - The East Algoma OPP and S.T.O.P. officers patrolled trails during this past weekend.

Twenty-three sleds and four all terrain vehicles were checked, with one permit related charge laid and three cautions issued.

Police remind the public that an Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail permit is required when riding the trails.
