Chief Dean Sayers makes the following statement:

Sootoday.com posted an item earlier today referring to a First Nation not paying its tuition fees.

For clarification purposes the First Nation alluded to is not Batchewana.

Yes, we are for the most part a new chief and council, however, we have paid our tuition bills.

Batchewana First Nation takes pride in its operations and financial responsibilities to its membership.

Be assured that Batchewana First Nation chief and council take every measure possible to ensure that our First Nation's best interest are met through diligence, transparency and accountability back to its membership.

In addition, financial responsibility, includes paying our bills, and this premise is front and centre and will continue to be for our nation.

Hopefully this will alleviate any misconceptions.
