HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

************************** New superintendent announced

SAULT STE. MARIE - (April 27) - The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Toni Nanne-Little to the position of superintendent of education for the 2009-2010 school year.

“When it comes to Catholic education, Toni has a wealth of knowledge that she brings to this position. I know from my many years of collaborating with Toni on various initiatives, that her input will be highly valued and that she will be a valuable addition to the Board’s administration team,” said Director of Education John Stadnyk.

Mrs. Nanne-Little, currently the principal at St. Theresa Catholic School, brings decades of educational experience to the position.

She also served as the HSCDSB’s Leader of School Effectiveness.

Her education experience spans 28 years beginning with her first teaching assignment in 1980 at St. Stanislaus elementary with the former Sault Ste. Marie Roman Catholic School Board.

Mrs. Nanne-Little then progressed to roles as vice-principal before taking on her first principal position at Holy Angels elementary.

“I'm looking forward to the new challenge and I am very excited about being part of the board’s administration team as we continue to support our school communities,” said Mrs. Nanne-Little.

“Toni’s years of dedication to Catholic education allowed the Board of Trustees to be quite confident in unanimously supporting the recommendation that she be added to the board’s administration team,” said HSCDSB Chair Marchy Bruni.

The superintendent position replaces the roles held by two program principals over the past few years.

This new position is supported by Ministry of Education grants for Student Success.

Mrs. Nanne-Little’s defined duties as superintendent of education will be determined by August prior to her formally taking on her new role with the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board.
