CITY POLICE NEWS RELEASE

************************* Reminder to the public

This weekend promises to be a busy and exciting one for this community.

The Santa Claus Parade and numerous sporting events (including the Soo Greyhound International Showdown and NOSSA basketball) are being hosted by Sault Ste. Marie.

With these brings a multitude of guests to our town with an added allure to local thieves.

As such, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would once again like to remind citizens to remain diligent in preventing thefts from their vehicles.

At no time should any valuables be stored in a motor vehicle as access can easily be gained by breaking a window.

If absolutely necessary, valuables should be stored out of plain view or preferably locking in the trunk.

Vehicles should also remain locked when unattended.

People tend to become complacent and adopt a “laissez faire/it can’t happen to me” attitude until victimized by thieves.

It is far better for individuals to remember this weekend for all the fun that it has to offer rather than one marred by a crime that may have been prevented. ***************************
