Lake Superior State University facilities engineer Paul Trumbley (with hat) takes Sault High teacher Gary Herschell's (in red) construction trades class through South Hall's basement on May 15.

The group was the first to get a behind the scenes tour of the building after ground was officially broken for its renovation on May 2.

Here they eye an engineering survey underway of underlying soil and rock.

Herschell plans to take his class through the site regularly as construction heads toward a fall, 2015 reopening.

Architectural and engineering work on the hall that will house the Lukenda School of Business continues, with a goal of commencing interior demolition in the coming months.
