SooToday.com goes yard-sailing (10 photos)

What do a milk jug, a stack of Dean Martin 33s and an almost-full bag of hamster shavings have in common? They aren't part of some perplexing riddle. These are some of the funky and eclectic items SooToday.

What do a milk jug, a stack of Dean Martin 33s and an almost-full bag of hamster shavings have in common?

They aren't part of some perplexing riddle.

These are some of the funky and eclectic items SooToday.com spotted this morning while yard-sailing around the Sault. Although we couldn't quite figure out the function of the intriguing orange thing we found for sale on Broadview Drive (see gallery photo 1), we were rendered euphorious when we found a $1 price tag on the board game How to Host a Murder as well as a complete set of Funk and Wagnall's Encyclopedia on Newcastle Drive.

Other items we spotted for sale included bicycles, tea cups, a karaoke machine, a set of three hub caps and a lawn mower.

We're convinced that a Van Gogh masterpiece is still out there somewhere, but we didn't find it today.

In case you'd like to add weekend yard-sailing to your schedule, there are certain things you probably should know.

First, according to GarageSaleSource.com, aggressive haggling is a no-no.

"Remember, you're not at the sale to buy a huge item like a house or a car. You're here to unearth a hidden gem, and have some fun in the process. Haggle by all means, but make sure you keep it light-hearted," the website advises.
