Some East End homes will be without power all night

PUC Distribution advised SooToday.com at 9:05 p.m. that about 50 of its customers along Chambers, Ashgrove and Carlbert from Amber to just west of Denwood will be without power for up to 12 hours while crews repair damage caused by fallen trees.

PUC Distribution advised SooToday.com at 9:05 p.m. that about 50 of its customers along Chambers, Ashgrove and Carlbert from Amber to just west of Denwood will be without power for up to 12 hours while crews repair damage caused by fallen trees.

The utility released the following statement at 7:19 p.m.

This is a description of unplanned power interruptions that are currently affecting PUC Distribution customers in Sault Ste. Marie.

Interruption Date: May 30, 2009

Start: 5:01 p.m. Restored at: NA # of customers: 868

Start: 5:01 p.m. Restored at: 6:34 p.m. # of customers: 270

Start: 5:01 p.m. Restored at: 6:50 p.m. # of customers: 242

Cause

Tree contacts - crews investigating reports of trees down on lines. PUC staff are currently investigating the cause of the interruption and will take corrective action by making repairs or switching around the problem as soon as possible.

Description of area involved

Chambers east of Birchwood, Kerr south to Centennial.

Power restored except to those in the immediate area along Ashgrove and Chambers from Denwood to Amber.
