Snow squall warning in effect for:

  • Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island

Snow squalls will continue today.

Hazards: Heavy snow. Snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm, with locally higher amounts possible.

When: Snow squalls will move north out of the region this afternoon.

Discussion: Snow squalls have developed in a strong northwesterly flow over Lake Superior. Snow squalls will move northward this afternoon as the wind shifts to the west.

Impacts: Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Road closures are possible.
