Last year, Northern Credit Union launched its ‘Small Business Rocks’ events, an intimate (and rocking) gathering of local small business owners. These exclusive gatherings were created to help small business owners with networking opportunities, along with exposing them to local experts who shared their experiences and expertise.

Small Business Rocks was also the platform to launch the credit union’s online small business account and product opening tool. Developed by ASAPP Online Solutions, the digital application allows Northern members to acquire business products from their office, handheld device, or virtually anywhere and within minutes.

The Small Business Rocks networking events will take place in three Northern Ontario cites:

  • Timmins: June 15, 5:30-9 p.m. at Working Class
  • Sault Ste. Marie: June 22, 5:30-9 p.m. at LopLops
  • North Bay: June 29, 5:30-9 p.m. at Raven and Republic

Network, Learn and Rock!

Small Business Rocks is all about helping small business owners grow their business. The events include networking sessions with other small business owners, as well as talks from local experts on subjects such as marketing, accounting, IT, HR and legal. Afterwards, attendees can ‘let their hair down’ and enjoy a live band, food and drinks, and win some rocking prizes. Like last year’s event, those in attendance will also be introduced to the advanced online small business account opening tool.

“Last year proved to be a tremendous success,” says Northern Credit Union Senior Vice President, Innovation and Operations, Tony Dunham.  “We were graced with hundreds of attendees. It felt great to be of service to so many Northern members, and to introduce them to a technology that can help them grow their business faster than ever.”

When asked about Northern’s new online tool, Tony added, “I think it really adds another level of convenience for our business members. Realizing how challenging it can be to run your own business, we wanted to give these members a way to improve efficiencies of their day-to-day banking. This online tool definitely accomplishes that. Combined with the Small Business Rocks event, we’re giving our business members a full spectrum of tools and resources that can be instrumental in helping them achieve their goals.”
