Firefighters respond to spill involving transmission fluid

Sault Fire Services are directing traffic this morning at the intersection of Wellington Street West and John Street after a chemical spill occurred in the eastbound lane of Wellington Street West between John Street and St. Georges Avenue.

Dan Coutu, acting fire captain, told SooToday the chemical was transmission fluid which leaked from a vehicle.

Sault Fire Services assisted city public works crews in laying down oil absorbant to avert vehicles from slipping.
