A former Sault Ste. Marie Police Services officer now living in Alberta was sentenced today to a six-month conditional term of custody to be served in the community.

John Frost, 59, was convicted of stealing $25,000 from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Association when he served as secretary-treasurer.

He admitted to writing cheques of $10,000 and $15,000 to his trucking company to prevent two repossessions, the Sault Star reports.

Ontario Court Justice Andrew Buttazzoni ruled that Frost must remain in his home between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless he is dealing with employment or medical appointments and emergencies or participating in religious services.
