Liz Rossnagel, the new chief executive officer at Sault Ste. Marie Public Library, was introduced at tonight's meeting of City Council.

Rossnagel, who replaces retiring Willy Eisenbichler in the position, was chosen after a five-month executive search that attracted applicants from across Canada, the United States and even South Africa.

She served most recently as director of the Lethbridge (Alberta) Public Library for seven years.

Rossnagel has also been manager of public services and manager of technology planning at the London (Ontario) Public Library, chief executive officer of Fort Erie Public Library and public library services consultant with the Ontario Ministry of Culture and Communications.

She'll spend the next few months learning about Sault Ste. Marie and what people want from their public library, as part of the library board's process for developing a new long-term strategic plan.
