Sheehan presents $25,000 to the Veterans Commemorative Monument project

At a ceremony held at noon Friday Nov. 2, Terry Sheehan, Member of Parliament for Sault Ste. Marie, presented Clyde Healey, Veterans Commemorative Monument (VCM) Committee Chairman, with a cheque for $25,000 to advance the funding of the VCM Project. The presentation was made at the Branch 25 Royal Canadian Legion building, 96 Great Northern Road.

The funding through Veterans Affairs Commemorative Partnership Program is designed to support communities honouring those who served Canada in times of war, military conflict, and peace”.

The VCM project is designed to recognize all men and women who have volunteered to serve with the Canadian, Allied, and NATO Armed Forces. The structure and granite markers purchased for individuals will provide a formal and lasting tribute to those who served and are serving from Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding area.
