Shaw brings new phone options to Sault Ste. Marie

Sault Ste. Marie residents now have more service provider choices when it comes to their home telephones.

Senior representatives from Shaw Communications Inc. introduced local availability of their company’s telephone services during a news conference today at the Holiday Inn. Two sign-up packages at special introductory rates applicable for six months are available to interested buyers.

The Shaw Digital Phone Lite package is designed for customers who don't do a lot of long distance calling.

The $29.95 per month offer includes local calling and six phone features.

Voicemail and call waiting can be added for $5.95 per month.

The package also includes anytime calling at 4 cents per minute within Canada and the U.S., and to 50 countries in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.

Shaw’s second package is called Shaw Digital Phone.

For $40 per month users get local service, eight telephone features (including voicemail and call display) and unlimited long distance calling with Canada and the United States.

This package includes 1,000 minutes per month of international calling to 50 countries in the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia Pacific and South America.

People opting for Shaw telephone service can keep their current phone, jacks and telephone number.

No computer or Internet connection is needed.

Shaw Communications Inc. provides broadband cable television, high-speed Internet, digital phone, telecommunications (through Big Pipe Inc.) and satellite direct-to-home services (through Star Choice Communications Inc.) to over three million customers.
