Severe thunderstorm watch issued for Hornepayne

Hornepayne is included in severe thunderstorm watches issued by Environment Canada at 12:53 p.m. today for a large area across the central part of Northern Ontario far north of Sault Ste. Marie.

Following is the Environment Canada watch as it pertains to Hornepayne.

************************* Possible severe thunderstorms this afternoon and early this evening.

This is an alert to the potential development of severe thunderstorms with large hail and damaging winds.

Monitor weather conditions. Listen for updated statements.

If threatening weather approaches take immediate safety precautions.

A northeast to southwest line of thunderstorms is developing across Northern Ontario.

These storms will generally produce small hail and strong wind gusts but there is a potential that some of the thunderstorms can reach severe limits with large hail close to 2 centimetres in diameter and brief damaging wind gusts to 90 km/h.
