NEWS RELEASE

************************* Seventy-seven-year-old Ronald Joseph Dunn of 31 London Street was involved in a motor vehicle collision yesterday at 12:22 p.m. on Elgin Street at Albert Street East.

It is alleged that the accused was driving his passenger van east on Elgin Street but failed to stop for a red light at Albert Street East.

The accused subsequently struck a car that had entered the intersection southbound from Albert Street East on a green light.

The car lost control and struck a utility pole that was situated on the southeast corner of that intersection.

The 49-year-old driver of the car was taken to hospital via ambulance where he was treated for what were believed at the time to be minor non-life-threatening injuries.

Mr. Dunn also received non-life-threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and had to be towed from the scene.

The accused was issued with a provincial offence act summons for failing to stop for a red light.
