************************* Elections November 9
- Serpent River First Nation will be going to the polls on Monday to select its next chief and council for the next two years.
- There are upwards of 25 people running for council and three running for the role as chief of the First Nation.
- Current Chief Isadore Day is once again on the ballot. Community members Jeff Jacobs and Elaine Johnston have also been nominated for the vote.
- The community is currently governed under Indian Act rules for elections and elected officials with a short two-year tenure in office.
- The community has a goal to develop its custom code election that will put new election provisions in place and lengthen the term of office.
