ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE NEWS RELEASE

************************* OPP search of Timmins land disposal site - negative results

(Timmins, Ontario) – An Ontario Provincial Police search of the Deloro Landfill Site in Timmins in connection with the disappearance of a Schumacher woman, who went missing in December 2003, was completed today with negative results.

Members of the OPP North East Region Emergency Response Team had been assisting as searchers with the support of excavation equipment, and two OPP Cadaver dogs since the search began Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004.

Investigators had been hopeful that the remains of Pamela Holopainen, 22, of 77 Fourth Ave., Schumacher, would be found.

She was last seen leaving a house party on the morning of Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003 and was reported missing by a relative on Dec. 31, 2003.

There has been no contact between the woman and her two children since her disappearance, nor with her other family members.

It is unusual for the woman not to be in touch with her family.

The OPP was asked by the Timmins Police Service in May 2004 to conduct an investigation into the missing woman’s whereabouts.

Members of the South Porcupine OPP detachment and Timmins Police Service, under the direction of OPP Detective Inspector Dave Truax, Criminal Investigation Branch, continue to investigate the whereabouts of Pamela Holopainen.

Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP at 705-235-3345 or Cochrane District Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
