************************* LSSU president search committee brings some candidates to campus

SAULT STE. MARIE, MI - Lake Superior State University's president search committee is beginning its next phase of candidate interviews.

The committee, as it announced earlier, has narrowed the field to a small number of candidates that includes Tony McLain, current president of the university.

Now it is bringing candidates to the campus to meet with the committee.

"Prior to naming and recommending a final list of candidates, the committee is interviewing interested and qualified candidates by bringing them to the campus and community, along with their spouses," said Patrick Egan, member of the LSSU board of trustees and chair of the search committee. "This effort allows candidates to get an important familiarity with the campus, the community and the climate."

Egan said the committee will work with this group until it is ready to identify a smaller group of candidates which will again visit the campus and be introduced to the community and university prior to a decision by the LSSU board of trustees.

This phase in the process is expected to take several weeks.

The committee will make a report during the next meeting of the LSSU board of trustees on March 12.

In addition to Egan, the LSSU President Search Committee includes fellow trustee Scot Lindemann; Jim Bourque, LSSU Foundation; Collette Coullard and Barbara Keller, LSSU faculty; Jeff Harris, LSSU Steelworkers; Nancy Neve and Ken Peress, LSSU administrative/professional staff; Mickey Parish, Bay Mills Community College president; Kahler Schuemann, LSSU alumnus and Karizma Vance, LSSU student.
